Dr. Laron Hardy
The term “alternative health care solutions” can often be misconstrued as a farce or ridiculousness but Dr. Hardy will say otherwise. Dr. Laron Hardy, Austin graduate of 1979, is a second generation chiropractic physician in Decatur. He received his Associates Degree from Calhoun Community College and continued his education at Life Chiropractic College where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic.
Wellness and disease prevention are two very important issues for Dr. Hardy. He urges everyone to visit the chiropractor at least once every three months. Regular chiropractic visits help the nervous system to remain healthy, allowing the messages from the brain to travel efficiently. According to Dr. Hardy, if the brain is working to the best of its ability, the body will do the same. This preventative step of visiting the chiropractor regularly thwarts illness, therefore keeping a person stronger and healthier.
Adjusting the Austin High Black Bear
Dr. Hardy credits Austin High school with not only providing a solid academic start but also furnishing some warm memories. He loves Austin High and fondly remembers its pep rallies, but what he remembers the most is participating in the yearly blood drive. While Dr. Hardy attended Austin, the school goal for the blood drive was to obtain as many units of blood as the class’s graduation year; therefore, the Class of 1979 had to obtain 1979 units. He was so proud of Austin his senior year when it surpassed its goal with over 2,000 units and secured the national record.
If his classmates and teachers could describe him in three words, what would they say? He believes teachers would describe him as honest, sincere, and fun-loving, qualities he hopes are still recognized by others today.
Dr. Hardy, a strong supporter of volunteering within the community, believes, “What you put out there comes back to you.” He also stresses the importance of family and believes “…you can always make more money, but you can’t make more time…”and he makes sure to cherish all the moments he spends with his wife and children. He advises everyone to do the same and not miss opportunities to make memories.
What brings a person happiness? According to Dr. Hardy, a happy life comes from doing something that one loves. If a person spends his life in a field that he is passionate about, he will find happiness. He does not want anyone to “just get through” life but to live it to the fullest and enjoy everything life has to offer.
(Dr. Hardy and his wife Tina have two children, Avery and Harrison.
